Murkowski Reaches Out Walmart To Keep Alaska Fish On Shelves

This week Senator Lisa Murkowski sent a letter to the incoming President and CEO of Walmart to give him some background on Alaska’s world-renowned sustainable fisheries referring to it as  “the benchmark for fishery management.”

Her intention was to advocate that Walmart make an educated choice to continue to bring Alaskan fish to its customers across the nation and to invite the new CEO to Alaska to see it for himself.

Sen. Murkowski(R-AK): “I communicated with him, encouraged him to come to Alaska, see for himself, how we not only have the best seafood imaginable, but how we harvest in a sustainable way, and again just the good quality product that we have coming out of Alaska. So, hopefully, he will take us up on my invitation to come and visit, but we continue to monitor this situation.”

Murkowski said she’d like to visit Bristol Bay and the Kenai Peninsula, if her invitation is accepted and timing permits.
