Municipal Election Brought out Low Voting Numbers.


The voter turnout for Tuesday’s municipal election was 13.60% borough wide.


Turnout was especially low for the Borough Assembly District 1, Kalifornsky District, at 4.8%. Turnout for the Kenai Area was roughly 28%, in Soldotna, turnout was 14.9%, although there was no contested races, only 8.4% of voters in Niksiki cast ballots.


5.8% Kasilof voters turned to the polls yesterday, voter turnout in Homer was roughly 17%.


36.8% of voters cast ballots in the Seward/Lowell Point area.


The Borough Clerk’s office said that the “typical” voter turnout in the area is 25%
