Montague Island Investigation Continuing

As we reported yesterday, two men walked away from a plane accident on Montague Island after the plane flipped and landed upside-down. Brice Banning Air Safety Investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board is overseeing the investigation and said he was able to visit with the pilot yesterday to get some preliminary details…

 

Banning: “They were landing on the beach and hit soft patches of sand.”

 

Neither the pilot, Rick Kraxberger of Kasilof, nor his passenger, Thomas Hensel, were injured in the accident. The pair had been planning to go beachcombing. Banning said the next step in the investigation is…

 

Banning: “The airplane’s being recovered and then he’s got an accident report that he’ll fill out and we’ll look at that accident report and continue the investigation.”
