The remains of a man missing from his camp site since mid-August have been found on the shore of the Kenai Lake.
Soldotna’s Alaska State Trooper dispatch received a report last Tuesday that an individual had located a body in the water on the shoreline of the Kenai Lake.
Crown Point Troopers responded and recovered the body.
The remains were sent to the state medical examiner who identified them Monday as 34-year-old David Campeau of Loveland, Colorado.
As we originally reported, Campeau had been camping with friends in the Kenai Lake area near Moose Pass in mid August.
He walked away from the campsite while intoxicated and after being unable to locate him, friends requested the Alaska State Troopers’ help to find him.
Central Emergency Services and Troopers searched the area extensively but were unable to find Campeau.
His next of kin have been notified.
