Micciche to Chair New Senate TAPS Throughput Committee

The 28th legislative session for the state will gavel in next week. One member of our local delegation, Senator elect Peter Micciche, will be chairing a new committee for the state senate, focusing on throughput to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline…

Sen. Elect Micciche(R-Soldotna): “Clearly we’re spending too much, whether or not taxes are reduced, let me tell you, the outlook for the future with the decline in oil production is bleak, I don’t want to sound negative, by any means, but there’s a lot of things we’re going to be looking to increase the throughput to TAPs. We’re going to be looking at access issues, permitting issues, the leasing program, the important thing is that we keep the TAPs tariff down.   We need to look at the age, minimum throughput, and the condition of TAPs. We need to look at incentivizing viscus and shale oil incentives and other issues.”

Micciche said that that this will also be included in the budget debate

Sen. Micciche(R-Soldotna): “We’re spending too much whether or not there’s an oil  tax cut, that is, we’re depending on the price of oil remaining high. There’s no guarantee that’s going to happen. So we do need to look at the operating budget.”
