Mayor Micciche Looks Back at Tenure in Office in Soldotna

With the Legislative session beginning on January 15th, Soldotna Mayor Peter Micciche will be officially stepping down from his post as mayor in early January to serve as the State Senator representing District O.  We spoke to Micciche this morning, asking what some of the highlights have been from his five years as mayor…

Mayor Micciche: “Nothing happens in a community, or municipality, or state with out a team that is willing to work together, that’s the problem that we’re seeing in D.C. right now. So great team, though the different councils and staff. At Soldotna, one of our objective were getting our finances in order. We picked up Larry Semmens, he picked up Melanie [Imholte], the city of Kenai is a great training ground. Then we looked at the things that needed to get done in Soldotna, many projects that had been lying out there for years, tough projects.”

Micciche said that some of the projects were the Soldotna Community Playground, Soldotna Creek Park, Soldotna’s Memorial Park, and the Veterans Memorial.
