Local Drifter Roland Maw’s appointment to the Board of Fisheries was put on hold by a House committee yesterday.
According to the House Resources Committee co-chair Dave Talerico of Healy, the hearing to confirm Maw was cancelled due to a large amount of feedback on the appointment received over the weekend.
An aide to Talerico’s office clarified there had been calls and emails received.
Rep. Talerico said he was planning to follow up some of those communications and did not know when the hearing would be rescheduled.
Gov. Bill Walker nominated Maw in January to replace former board chair Karl Johnstone, who resigned after being told he would not be reappointed when his term expired.
