Anchorage Police seized a marijuana business’ delivery car Wednesday night; the owner of that business and local Kenai Peninsula businesses say they are well within the law.
Soldotna’s Discreet Deliveries Regional Manager David Hodge said they are licensed as a warehouse and transportation business which delivers more than Alaskan-grown marijuana.
Hodge: “At our other locations we offer anything from paraphernalia to snack foods. If you want anything from a Snickers bar or a Gatorade, a Red Bull, we do a lot more than just marijuana.”
Discreet Deliveries began its state-licensed business with locations in Anchorage, the Mat-Su, Fairbanks and Soldotna in February.
He said that the costs listed on their website are not for marijuana, but for the delivery.
Hodge: “If you wanted to get technical with it, in the last article they did say, if you purchase a bag we do fill it for free with product, because we’re not going to deliver you an empty bag.”
Hodge said they have been deeply involved in following the state as it creates commercial marijuana regulations as well as local governments.
He attended Kenai City Council’s discussion about a moratorium on marijuana businesses, which was voted down.
Hodge: “It was completely uncalled for, they’re singling out these businesses, these legal, legitimate businesses, for their own gain.”
Discreet Deliveries has been working towards obtaining a commercial license.
Hodge says they are working diligently to obtain the new permits and licenses that will become available.
