Lucky Escape in Semi-Trailer Accident

A lucky escape for a Seward man in a semi-truck accident last Tuesday: just after 9am State Troopers responded to the non-injury crash at Mile 107 of the Seward Highway.

33-year-0ld Joshua Doty was driving a mid-2000’s pickup truck northbound on the highway when he lost traction on the ice and frost covered road. The pickup hit the southbound guard rail, crossing into the path of a late model semi-truck.

61-year-old Anthony Weese of Sutton was driving the semi-truck pulling a single trailer southbound. Weese’s semi-truck was unable to stop or avoid crashing into Doty’s vehicle. The guard rail and both vehicles sustained damages, but neither driver was injured.

Doty’s pickup sustained more than $500 of disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene. Weese’s semi-truck sustained minor damage and was drivable.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was not a factor.
