A local man is mourning the death of his daughter after a weekend tragedy in Hawaii.

Mike Lewis said he received a phone call on Friday, notifying him that 21-year-old Kendra Lewis had been found stabbed to death in Kauai. She was living with 26-year-old Steven Michael Wilson, who is currently being held on charges of second-degree murder, with bail set at $1 million.

Mike says he last saw his daughter in December, when she and Michael moved from Anchorage to Hawaii…

Lewis: “She had been in Soldotna since she was about 12 years old, so she went through junior high and high school in this community, and was on the SoHi swim team, and I know she had a lot of family and friends down here.”

Memorial services for Kendra will be held in Hawaii and at the Anchorage Hilltop.

Lewis: “Everybody that met her loved her. She was just a hard worker. She was the biggest little Indian in Alaska. So yeah, she’ll be missed.”
