KPBSD Waiting on Enrollment Numbers

Kenai Peninsula Borough School District students will head back to class in just one week from today. We spoke to Dr. Steve Atwater, superintendent of the local school district, and asked if district officials had any early indications when it comes to enrollment figures leading up to the new school year…

“Dr. Atwater: “Nothing other than our projections from last fall which said that we’d increase a little bit, but it’s really just hard to say. As you know, there’s a lot of transiency that exists here on the Kenai, people come and go all the time. So we really won’t know until we open the doors on August 20th.”

As we’d previously reported, on the last day of school for the previous school year, the enrollment was the lowest it’s ever been for at least 18 or 19 years.
