Tonight the KPBSD School Board is holding a meeting to further discuss some of the decisions being made pertaining to the Soldotna Schools reconfiguration process and make decisions based on the what the committee in charge of deciding the colors, names and mascots presented.
To outline more on that we spoke to School Board President Joe Arness.
Arness: “The real big topic tonight is the Soldotna Reconfiguration question it will undoubtedly consume some time and hopefully we can put to rest some of the questions regarding the school colors, names, mascots and so forth.”
We also spoke to Mountain View Elementary Principal Norma Holmgaard who will be presenting tonight.
Holmgaard: “We’re going to highlight three areas that we feel kind of make us who we are, and the first areas are in teacher collaboration and their focus on student learning and data and Renee Christianson who is one of our 5th grade teachers is going to present that information. The next thing that has been a real high priority this year and continues to be so is student safety and so Mr. Kircher is going to do a demonstration on how we teach bus safety so that’s the second part of it and then the third part is just to spotlight our students and our choir will be performing three songs tonight.”
That meeting will be held tonight starting at 7:00 pm in the Borough Administration Building at 148 N. Binkley in Soldotna.
