As the temperatures are continuing to fall, officials with the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District are spreading the word to raise awareness of a less talked about segment of the student population. KPBSD Superintendent Dr. Steve Atwater.
Dr. Atwater: “Wanted to bring the public’s attention our homeless students, it’s a secret that we don’t really talk about very much, but there are homeless students in our community. There was a candlelight vigil on Saturday night for them. Anyway that you can support or be part of their life, that would be great.”
Some of the homeless students aren’t on the streets, they are also considered “couch surfers” who don’t have a steady place to stay.
