The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is continuing to work on their plan to reconfigure the Soldotna area schools. Dr. Steve Atwater, Superintendent of the district recently updated the Soldotna chamber on the plan
Dr. Atwater: “Put forward by the Board, approved in April, and then beginning in August of 2014, we’ll have one high school in Soldotna, it will be for grades 10-12, located at the current SoHi facility. What the name of the high school is hasn’t be determined yet, what colors the students will wear hasn’t been determined, all that will be determined this winter. But yeah, it’s a go, all 10th-12th graders will be at SoHi, whether it will be called that, still remains to be seen.”
Atwater said that there is a task force of various members of the community to discuss the details such as a name, mascot, and school colors.
