The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District has launched their new system so parents can pay fees online.

Erkeneff: “Have you ever heard ‘Mom I forgot my lunch money”? So the school district is really excited to launch a new system, we’ve been piloting it, and now parents or anyone who wants to make a payment on behalf of a student will have the opportunity to do that online.”

Pegge Erkeneff with the district said the system can be used to pay for food service, student activities, and even lost text books, among other things.

The program was piloted by Kenai Central High School and Ninilchik School.

Erkeneff: “And other schools are coming online daily, we’ll have a blerp on the home page, we’ll be sharing that on social media and the schools all know about it too so parents can access it through their parent portal of PowerSchool, through our website on the student/parent tab, and then also there’s a little icon on our mobile app that says payment and you can click that and it will take you right to the spot.”

The online system does charge a 3.6% processing fee from the provider, RevTrak. The district stated in a release that the fee is the cost of the providers fee, not a source of revenue for the district.
