Next Monday’s Veterans Administration field hearing has changed locations from the Dena’ina Wellness Center to the Kenai Visitors Center.
The National VA Undersecretary of Health David Shulkin accepted U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan’s invitation to the Kenai hearing.
Sullivan’s Kenai Office Representative Elaina Spraker said the main topic of conversation will be Choice Act which was recently implemented nationwide.
Spraker: “Alaska being so unique it didn’t work up here like they had hoped and it created a lot of problems for the veterans and their care up here. So the Senator, he’s a military man and is very concerned about veterans, we deal with a lot of veteran issues and he wanted to make sure the Secretary and Undersecretary hear from the veterans exactly what these problems are so they can go in and fix it.”
U.S. VA Secretary Bob McDonald was in Alaska with Sen. Sullivan last week.
The Monday, August 24, Kenai field hearing will begin at 6 pm at the Kenai Visitors Center.
Veterans who wish to testify will have an opportunity to sign up before testimony begins at the hearing.
