Kenai River Marathon Set for Sunday, Needing Volunteers

The annual Kenai River Marathon is set for this Sunday, September 29, but organizers say they still need a few helping hands. Kris Harris assists Dr. Hansen who is the volunteer coordinator…

Harris: “We still need some volunteers for water stations, directing runners, and to help set up.”

Harris said volunteers don’t need to have any special experience, or even be runners. All they ask…

Harris: “There’s going to be an orientation Saturday evening at the Visitor’s Center at 6 o’clock, and so they will need to come to that, and then they’ll get their marching orders for Sunday.”

The marathon is hosted by the City of Kenai, the Kenai Chamber of Commerce, and the Kenai Rotary Club. Proceeds go to the Kenai Community Foundation to support the development of parks and recreation in and around Kenai.
