As we reported, the Kenai City Council held their first public hearing of the draft comprehensive plan Wednesday night.
The issue of millennium square was brought up by Dr. Peter Hanson…
Dr. Hanson: “I would hope that you would see the merit of including the conceptual drawing of millennium square, as outlined in the KEDs report with this comprehensive plan. I think this is very important to the future of our city, and seeing our town grow, and developing with a city center.”
Kenai resident Kelly Kelso commented on the issue of development along the Kenai Spur Highway
Kelso: “I know, that there have been many who have testified against this huge change to the land use map. I understand that this is always dismissed I understand that this is not a change in zoning. But it is a vision for the future of Kenai, and I’m just wondering where did this extreme vision come from? This vision for limited commercial along the main corridors, certainly, I ‘ave heard no citizens that they envision this at any of the meetings, and I mean, I’ve attended a lot of meetings, more than I can count.”
The council will hold an additional public work session on the plan next Friday, March 29th at 6:00pm
