Stars Deal Pair Of Losses To Kards In NLC Basketball

The Kenai Kardinals and Soldotna Stars met on Tuesday at Kenai Central High School for conference basketball games; the Stars sweeping Kenai for a pair of Northern Lights Conference wins.

SoHi 49 – Kenai 36

The SoHi girls improve to 10-0 on the season with a 49-36 victory, but were tested early by the Kardinal girls  Kenai lead 13-9 after one quarter; however, SoHi held Kenai to a lone field goal in the second quarter and to only five points in the third.  Justice English lead Kenai with 19 points and Julie Litchfield topped the Stars with 18 points.

SoHi 57 – Kenai 28

The SoHi boys downed Kenai 57-28 on the strength of a 17-1 run to start the second half of the boys game.  SoHi lead 22-8 at the half and 39-9 just 2:30 into the second half.  Nine players scored for SoHi lead by Austin Kruse with 14 points, including three 3-point shots in the third quarter.
