With the moose hunting season upon us, hunters are being reminded to stay away from the areas that are off-limits. In most of Kenai, discharging a firearm is absolutely illegal. However, Kenai Police Chief Gus Sandahl says there is a small area north of the Kenai Spur where hunting is allowed.
He says it is basically from Marathon Road to the Beaver Creek area. He says hunters in Kenai who are caught discharging a fire arm outside of this area would be ticketed by the police.
Sandahl also urges everyone hunting in the Marathon Road area to watch out for other hunters. This is a popular hunting area each year. Outside of the moose hunting season, this area is known for its car collisions with moose.
