Kenai Community Projects Close in One Week

Posted: April 9, 2013 at 3:28 pm

Next Monday marks the closing date for submissions to two brand new community projects. The Pen and Paint the Kenai projects were designed to increase the sense of unity in the area. Marcus Mueller, with the Soldotna Rotary Club, started Paint the Kenai….

Mueller: “Something amazing will come out of this at the end, and it’s going to be something that’s totally unexpected by me.

This community mural project is going to be pulling mural ideas from local artists. The ideas floating around in artists’ heads about what this community means to them and how they see it… I’m very excited to see how they are able to express their ideas and represent the various values that they hold.”

Artists have been submitting mural ideas on sample panels. A final design will be chosen this summer after a public vote.

You can learn more on the Paint the Kenai Facebook page.

The Redoubt Reporter has also added a companion project for writers, named Pen the Kenai.

Both projects close to submissions on April 15.
