Kenai Community Library Open Again

6/29/2010

Yesterday morning, the Kenai Community Library re-opened for the summer months.  The library had to be closed about three weeks due to construction on the expansion project.  The library did give patrons the chance to keep their books a little longer due to the closure.  However, those books now need to be returned, according to Librarian Mary Jo Joiner.

We also asked her what patrons will notice that is different since the closure.

She said there was also a lot of construction on the back, and on the side of the building.  The interior of the building had to have the existing carpet reinstalled after new concrete was poured underneath it.  She expects there would be another closure to move material from the old part of the library to the new expansion.  However, she doesn’t anticipate that happening until at least December.
