The Kenai City Council has scheduled a second dipnet fishery work session, prior to next Wednesday’s regularly scheduled council meeting. Kenai City Manager Rick Koch said that when it comes to managing the fishery, it’s more than just fish waste..
Koch: “There were two problems, even if your 100% successful in dealing with the fish waste, there’s still 15,000 people down there, that are going to inhibit local folks from being able to take advantage of the beach as they do the other months of the year. By solving the fish waste problem, you have almost two times the population of Kenai down there, in a one-mile area at the mouth of the river.”
The work session will be held at 5:30pm on February 6th.
