The October 1 Kenai City Council meeting will open up public testimony on increasing the land fund for the acquisition of five parcels on Peninsula Ave.

Kenai Mayor Pat Porter said the land’s purpose has already been decided.

Porter: “We actually plan to use that once we receive some funding from the Corp of Engineers to complete our Bluff Erosion Project, we plan to use the whole block of property to be able to stage equipment over there.”

She said after the Bluff Project the city will look for other options for those properties.

Another new item on the agenda, children from Kaleidoscope School will bring forward an issue.

Porter: “That plan to address an issue with a culvert problem that they found, and so I’ll be anxious to hear about that, it wasn’t in our packet so that’s all the information I have but they will be there tomorrow and it’s great our children are involved and taking a stand on something, I’m anxious to hear from them.”

That meeting will take place at 7 pm at the Kenai City Council Chambers.
