After being postponed in November, and debated by the Kenai Planning and Zoning commission, an ordinance seeking to allow backyard chickens will be before the Kenai City Council tonight.
This ordinance was sponsored by Kenai City Council member Mike Boyle…
Cm. Boyle: “It’s something that is done around the country, I mean, a lot of communities have opportunities for citizens to have backyard chickens, as I’ve heard them being called.”
Kenai Mayor Pat Porter, however, said that the current process works
Mayor Porter: “They merely have to get a conditional use permit. It’s kind of like if you have four dogs, or something. You have to get a kennel licence so that we are aware of who has those kind of things going on.
Tonight’s meeting of the Kenai City Council begins at 7:00pm
