The Kenai Chamber of Commerce is celebrating a milestone this year: 40 years of community awards. Executive Director Johna Beech said today they’ll hold the annual Community Awards.
Beech: “Today I’m so excited, this is our 40th Annual Kenai Community Awards. We typically have it as a banquet and this year we switched it to a luncheon, and so now we are at max capacity, so we are sold out, so if you did not R.S.V.P. I do apologize, but we have no room for you, so if you show up, we might have to hold you back just to make sure.”
The awards are being held at noon at the Visitor’s Center in Kenai.
Beech: “We have 126 people attending, which is huge, and so today we’re going to be hearing from our Senator Peter Micciche and then we’re going to have past Chairman of the Board Brendyn Shifflea hand out the awards for Community Service of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Business Organization of the Year, Service to Youth, Small Business of the Year, Log Cabin, and the President’s Award, so that’s very, very exciting and that’s noon here at the Kenai Visitor’s Center today.”
