Kenai Beaches Shine as Final Dip Netters Depart

If you’ve been the Kenai beaches recently, you’ll notice a significant improvement on the mess left after last year’s dip net fishery. Kenai City Manager Rick Koch…

Koch: “The biggest part of it has been the cooperation of the fishery participants. They’re putting fish waste directly into the water, rather than allowing it to be on the beach.”

Koch said the second factor was the increased raking by the City and dumpsters which were installed close at hand. We asked Koch if there were less people this year, following reports that few sockeye were being caught…

Koch: “No less people, believe me. On that busy weekend, there were more people here than there have ever been.”
