Kard Boys Hold-off Mariners: Open Full Week Of Basketball

The Kenai Kardinal boys defeated Homer 48-42 in non-conference action on Tuesday at KCHS, holding-off a late run by the Mariners.

Kenai lead 25-13 at the half and by as many as 16 in the first half; however, the Mariners outscored Kenai 9-1 to open the second half to climb back into the game.  Kenai again extended the lead to double-digits late in the third quarter.  Homer mounted a final run which drew the Mariners to within a basket at 42-40 in the final minute.  Kenai, leading 45-42, converted three of four free throws to close the game.  Final Score: Kenai 48 – Homer 42.

 

Upcoming Basketball Schedule

 

The Kardinal boys travel to Nome for games on Friday and Saturday, January 18 & 19.  The Kardinal girls next host the Dimond girls on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at KCHS.

The SoHi boys travel to Anchorage for the Dimond Boys Tournament with games beginning on Thursday, January 17.  The Stars open against Bartlett on Thursday at 2:45 p.m.  The Star girls host Dimond on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

The Skyview Panthers boys and girls travel to Cordova for South Central Conference games on Friday and Saturday, January 18 & 19. 

The Nikiski Bulldog boys and girls travel to Seward for South Central Conference games on Friday, January 18.
