Jury Rules in Favor of Homer in Shootout Lawsuit

Posted: March 8, 2013 at 7:50 am

A federal jury found The City of Homer and its Police Department was not responsible for injuring a 2-year-old boy during a 2006 shootout.

The mother of Jason Anderson Jr. had sought $23 million after settling an earlier lawsuit with the U.S. Marshals service for $3.5 million.

The boy was shot in 2006 as Federal Marshals and the Homer Police attempted to arrest Jason K. Anderson, who was wanted on drug charges.

Anderson had his son with him in a vehicle at the Homer Airport.

Jurors on Thursday, however, found that Anderson was responsible for the shot that left the boy brain damaged.

Anderson himself died during the shootout.

  1. The 2 year old was not a willing offender he never-the-less was a victim of the pursuit of a criminal by a government that should be responsible for their actions…. this jury should of found the government responsible.

  2. Maybe mama should not have placed herself and her child in harms way by having a relationship with such a crap-bag as Jason Anderson. This guy was running around for days and weeks with a weapon threatening people, dealing drugs and being a menace to society. It’s a shame that the child was injured but don’t blame the police, blame mommy and daddy
