Jones Defends Work of School District With Increased Funds

Accountability is the word being used in Juneau, currently, when it comes to the funding of education.  Both Governor Sean Parnell and some in the House Leadership have openly stated that they want to see more accountability from the school districts before giving them additional funds.  Some feel that recent increases to education funding have not improved student performance.  Kenai Peninsula Borough Assistant Superintendent Dave Jones disagrees with those thoughts.

SB171, calling for an increase in the base student allocation over the next three years, has passed out of the Senate.  It will be heard by the House of Representatives, next.  Governor Sean Parnell has already said he doesn’t support the bill.
