Investigation Continues Into Homer Plane Accident

ERA Aviation has declined to provide comment about the plane accident in Homer yesterday, when one of their most frequently used types of commuter planes crash landed.

At 3:30pm, the landing gear for the Beechcraft 1900 didn’t deploy, causing significant damage to the plane, but no injuries for the 15 people reportedly on board.

Homer Police Chief Mark Robl…

Chief Robl: “When our officers arrived the plane was basically sitting on its belly, with the tires just partially extended above the runway, and the propellers on the plane had been chopping into the pavement as the plane slid down the runway, and the propellers were basically gone.”

Robl said the passengers were able to make their way out of the aircraft. Two FAA representatives were in Homer for another matter, and the scene was quickly turned over to them.
