Inlet Woods Flooding Under Watch

With elevated water tables across the Kenai Peninsula, Kenai City Manager Rick Koch said he’s keeping an eye on current flooding in the Inlet Woods subdivision…

Koch: “We’ve seen standing water in many other areas of the city subside over the course of the last week that we’ve not had rain, but it continues to migrate into that area and we’ve begun pumping that water out of there to a drainage to the east.”

The City is hoping to disperse the water before it turns into ice. We asked if there have been any reports of homes affected…

Koch: “Not in that neighborhood. I have heard of impacts to private property in other parts of the city, that there has been flooding in crawl spaces and basements, underground basements. We encourage anyone who has property that those issues have happened to to contact the Borough and have that noted on their emergency declaration.”

Koch said the Borough’s disaster declaration applies to all areas of the Borough.
