House Majority Leader Discusses Energy Council

House Majority Leader Kyle Johansen of Ketchikan was one of the members of the State Legislature who attended the Energy Council in Washington, D.C., last week.    Johansen called Energy Council an eye-opening experience for him.  He was surprised about the future of  shale gas for an energy source.

He said that shale gas is coming.  He felt shale gas would have an impact on the North Slope natural gas pipeline.

Johansen said the state should still push for a big line from the North Slope, while realizing that the potential for shale gas would be out there.  He said Alaska gas was not a topic of discussion at the Energy Council, except by the Alaskans who attended the meetings.  Johansen discussed the Energy Council during Monday morning’s House Majority Caucus Press Conference in Juneau.
