Hospital Says Efficiency to be Gained from Task Force

As budgets are crafted across the state, the Central Peninsula Hospital is working on theirs as well.

Hospital CEO Rick Davis said besides the .01 mill rate the borough set, the hospital is self-sustaining.

Davis: “So it’s just really a place holder to keep that and that money actually goes to the service board to conduct the audit that they do every year on the hospital. Budgets across the state are pretty tight but again the hospital is self-supporting and we don’t depend on any outside money for funding. So even though the state budget and borough budget and city budgets are pretty tight, that won’t impact us directly.”

We asked Davis what he thinks of the healthcare task force recently created by the borough assembly.

Davis: “You know there’s a lot of efficiencies to be gained by us working more closely with the other hospitals in the system.”

He said it was still too early to determine financial impacts of a borough wide service area, as has been a consideration brought forward by the borough mayor.
