Homer PD Increases Reward for Homicide Information

The reward for information about an alleged homicide in Homer has gone up to $10,000.

The body of 61-year-old Mark Matthews was found on the Poopdeck Trail on July 28, between Hazel Ave and Pioneer Ave.

HPD Chief Mark Robl says there are still people they’d like to interview, and further information has come to light after the incident, but he didn’t say if any suspects have been identified.

The reward was originally $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the crime.

The results of an autopsy and examination of the crime scene led to a homicide classification, but no further details have been released. HPD hasn’t said how Matthews was killed.
