Kenai and Soldotna High hockey teams traveled to the Valley for three days of North Star Conference games.

SoHi records a pair of wins with victories over Palmer and Wasilla; Kenai manages a lone win over Palmer.

SoHi now stands at 4-2 against the Valley; Kenai, 3-3 verse Valley opponents

Remember in December: The Stars defeated Palmer 3-2 in overtime, fell to Colony 2-1 and shutout Wasilla 3-0.  The Kardinals  defeated Palmer 7-1, downed Colony 3-2 and fell to Wasilla 6-1.  Both Kenai and SoHi ended the series with 2-1 records.

Thursday, Jan. 16

SoHi 0 -Colony 3

The Colony Knights lead 1-0 after two periods of hockey, then added two additional goals for a 3-0 shutout of the Stars.

Kenai 10 – Palmer 3

The Kardinals rallied from a 2-0 deficit, scoring 6 goals in the second period; in-route-to a 10-3 North Star Confernence victory over Palmer.  Ross Hanson scored four goals and added three assists; Jake Eubank scored three goals and added four assists.

Friday, Jan. 17

SoHi 3  – Wasilla 2 OT

The Stars downed Wasilla in overtime scoring a goal with 2:33 remaining by Nick Wrobel

Kenai 0 – Colony 4 

The Kardinals allowed four goals in the first nine minutes and fell to Colony 4-0.

Nikiski Tip-Off Tournament @ Nikiski High

The Bulldog girls sweep the girls bracket to win the title for the 2014 Nikiski Tip-Off Tournament.  Rachel Thompson and Emily Lynch were named to the all-tournament team.   The Bulldog boys manage a single win; Seth Carstens was named to the boys all-tournament team.

Thursday, Jan. 16

Nikiski Girls 47 -Dillingham 41

The Bulldog girls lead 32-18 at the half and recorded a 47-41 victory over Dillingham.  Rachel Thompson lead the Bulldogs with 15 points.

Nikiski Boys 75 – Dillingham 39

The Nikiski boys overpowered Dillingham 75-39, lead by Seth Carsten’s 23 points.
