High Wind Watch Impacting Travel from Kenai Peninsula to Anchorage Area

A High wind watch is in effect this morning though this afternoon for the Eastern Kenai Peninsula, as well as the Portage Valley and Turnagain Arm.

 

The National Weather Service office in Anchorage says that  a pacific weather system will move into South Central Alaska today, creating favorable conditions for strong winds from the Southeast of 50 to 65 mph with possible gusts reaching 85 mph.

Winds are expected to increase as the morning turns to afternoon, but will begin diminishing this evening.

 

The winds will impact travel between the Kenai Peninsula and Anchorage area.
