Heinze Says Alaskans Need to be Prepared for Blackouts

The CEO of the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority, Harold Heinze, was in Kenai last week to report on the status of in-state gas. He urged his Kenai Chamber audience to be prepared for potential rolling blackouts and a potential loss of natural gas to heat the home.

Heinze said, until North Slope natural gas reaches this area, there may be times when natural gas to heat all of the homes isn’t available.

He said this is just part of being prepared because of a depleting supply of natural gas.
