HEA Responding to Kachemak Bay Outage

A large outage in the Homer area is currently affecting 2,000 HEA members, including the south side of Kachemak Bay. HEA crews are responding, but the cause of the outage is unknown at this time.

According to HEA’s Joe Gallagher, the outage has been mostly restored as of 1:30pm today. There are still approximately 900 meters without power.

The remaining outage area is from the Safeway store on the Sterling Highway out to the end of the Homer Spit.

Gallagher said an underground power line was affected near the intersection of Kachemak Way and Elderberry Drive.  Power is expected to be fully restored this afternoon.
