Governor’s Oil Tax Bill Passes Resources Committee

This afternoon, Senate Bill 21, the Governor’s oil tax bill, passed another step in its journey through the State Legislature, receiving approval from the House Resources Committee.

The Governor said he appreciated the committee’s “commitment to growing oil production in Alaska,” and called his bill “simple and balanced, and competitive for the long term.”

Governor Parnell said the end goal is an oil tax structure which is fair to Alaskans and while encouraging new production.

With just ten days left in this legislative session, Governor Parnell said he’s confident they will pass meaningful legislation to grow economic opportunity for Alaskans.

Senate Bill 21 now heads to the House Finance Committee.
