Governor Sean Parnell is set to announce today if he’ll expand Medicaid in Alaska.
U.S. Senator Mark Begich recently weighed in, directing Parnell to consider the 40,000 Alaskans who won’t be covered if there’s no expansion.
Parnell has said he’s investigating the situation, but has been concerned that the federal government may leave the state holding the bill. The federal government has promised to cover the first three years, but Parnell said he’s skeptical about their ability to help fund the expansion indefinitely.
The announcement is expected a little after 11am.
