As the Governor wrapped up this legislative session, discussions turned to the future of Alaska’s oil taxes and the anticipated increase in development. The Governor said it’s time to start attracting new companies.
Gov. Parnell: “Our first job now is to spend some time letting the companies know, and I’m not talking about the big three who do business here, they know, but it’s the smaller companies, to attract them as well.”
The Governor also addressed the possibility that the new tax structure won’t achieve its goal of new development, and said if that’s the case, Alaskans can always change the taxes again.
Gov. Parnell: “I don’t think it will be that difficult. At the same time, we are in a place now where we are competitive by every measure from independent experts, therefore, we ought to have some new investment and production for our people.”
