French Says Oil Companies Getting Too Much Help From State

7/29/2011

Two of the State Legislature’s most outspoken Democrats held a press conference yesterday afternoon to discuss oil production taxes.  Senator Hollis French said, even though Governor Sean Parnell is saying, when it comes to North Slope production that the sky is falling, that’s just not the case.

French also noted that there are two brand new onshore drill rigs under contract to BP currently in Portland Oregon being prepared to head to the north slope, as well.

In response to French’s comments, Resources Commissioner Dan Sullivan said the Parnell Administration is pleased with the arrival of any rigs on the North Slope; but, it will require more than a few of them to replace the oil production at its current rate of decline.
