Foster Carers Needed As Children Head to School

With a constant number of children on the Peninsula needing temporary, or sometimes long-term foster homes, Michelle Partridge with the Office of Children’s Services said they still need more volunteer families.

Partridge: “Trying to disrupt as little as possible in that child’s life, we try to find a home that’s within the same area. The child can stay in their school, stay in their community, stay connected to the culture and their family and friends and near their parents, so that as their parents work to make it a safer home, they’re still able to maintain connection.”

Partridge said Kenai families can call the local Office of Children’s Services for more information on 283-3136 or visit them online.
