Football Teams Challenged Large School Opponents For Week Two

Week two of the high school football season featured cross-classification games for three central peninsula teams and a conference pairing for Skyview.

 

SoHi 47 -Colony 24

SoHi improved to 2-0 with a come-from-behind victory over the Knights.  SoHi scored the first two touvhdowns and lead 14-0 after one quarter.  Colony scored 17 points in the second quarter, including a field goal with no time on the clock.  Colony lead 17-14 at the half.

The Knights scored to open the third quarter for a 24-14 lead.  SoHi, behind a stifling defense, scored 33 points in the final 18 minutes for a 47-24 victory.

 

Skyview 0 – Houston 37

The Panthers offense was held in-check by the Houston Hawks; as the Hawks recorded their second-straight shutout in a 37-0 victory.  The Hawks have not allowed a single point in the first two weeks of the regular season.

Skyview is scheduled to open Great Land Conference play this Saturday; however, Monroe High from Fairbanks has cancelled this week’s game against the Panthers.

 

Kenai 17 -Wasilla 14

The Kardinals travelled to Wasilla for a cross-classification contest against Large School, Railbelt opponent Wasilla Warriors.  Weather interrupted the contest with hail and lightning.  The Kardinals win 17-14, scoring after suspended play in the second half.

 

Nikiski 0 – Lathrop 54

The Nikiski Bulldogs stepped-up two divisions on Saturday to host Fairbanks Lathrop High School from the Railbelt Conference.  Nikiski turned the ball over on the first two possessions and never recovered, falling to Lathrop 54-0.

Nikiski begins Great Land Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Barrow to face the Whalers.
