Football Playoffs Set For Small School Championship & Medium School Semi-Finals On Saturday

The Alaska football championships advance to the championship game in Small School football and the second round of playoffs in the Medium and Large School divisions with games on Friday and Saturday, October 18-19.

 

Small School Football Championship Game

 

Nikiski vs Monroe

The 2013 ASAA Small School Football championship game, featuring Nikiski High School against Monroe High School, is scheduled for Saturday, October 19 at the Anchorage Football Stadium.  Game time is set for Noon.

The Bulldogs appear in their third-straight state small-school championship football game.  Nikiski battled Eielson in 2012, the Ravens winning 27-7.  Nikiski and Monroe each finished the Great land Conference season at 5-1; Monroe defeated Nikiski in week eight 37-27.

Medium School Football Playoffs

 

The 2013 ASAA Medium School Football semi-final games, featuring Kenai Central High School against Juneau-Douglas High School and Soldotna High School against North Pole High School, are scheduled for Saturday, October 19 at the Dimond Alumni Field.

Game times:  Kenai vs Juneau  1:00 p.m.      SoHi vs North Pole  4:00 p.m.

 

Kenai vs Juneau

The Kenai Kardinals return to the new Medium School playoff format in 2013; the Kardinals won the inaugural Medium School championship in 2011.  Kenai’s opponent Juneau moved into the Medium School division from the Railbelt Conference in the Large School division.

The Kardinals advance to the semi-finals with a 47-6 victory over Kodiak in the playoff’s first round.

Kenai is 8-1 on the season.  Juneau is 8-1 on the season, undefeated against Alaska opponents.

SoHi vs North Pole

The Soldotna Stars look to defend their 2012 state championship (SoHi 62 – Homer 20) in the new Medium School playoff format.  The Stars opponent North Pole moved into the Medium School division from the Railbelt Conference in the Large School division.

The Stars advance to the semi-finals with a 69-13 victory over Houston in the playoff’s first round.

SoHi is undefeated on the season at 9-0.  North Pole is 8-1 .

Large School Football Playoffs

Friday, October 18 – Large School Semi-Final • 6:30pm: Palmer (visitor) vs. West Anchorage (home)

Saturday, October 19 – Large School Semi-Final • 4:00pm: Dimond (visitor) vs. Service (home)
