The National Weather Service says a flood advisory for the Kenai River is still in effect from Kenai Lake to Soldotna.
An additional 0.5 inches of rain was measured around 5:30am this morning, with an additional 0.5 inch expected to fall throughout this morning. this, combined with the two to three inches seen over the past 36 hours could lead to minor flooding in low-lying areas on Thursday or Friday.
At Cooper Landing, the Kenai is hovering around 11.9 ft and is expected to crest at 12.4 ft Thursday afternoon.
The Kenai River below Skilak Lake is at 12.5 ft, expected to crest at 13.0 ft Thursday night.
In the Kenai Keys, the river is around 10.5 ft and is expected to crest at 11.2 ft Thursday night, which is minor flood level. At 10.8 ft, water will be over Dolly Way Rd. If the river reaches 12 ft, water will flow into the Kenai Keys subdivision.
In Soldotna, the river is not expected to reach bankful.
The NWS is asking resident to stay out of all flowing water.
