Two crew members of the “Six,” a local fishing vessel, were rescued last night as the boat sank at Chinulna Point, just south of the mouth of the Kenai River.
Guests at the Beluga Lookout Lodge first saw the vessel overturn in choppy seas. Kenai and Nikiski Fire Departments responded, along with private boat owners in the area.
The men were pulled from the sea, but were reportedly able to make their own way up the beach, and were taken to Central Peninsula Hospital.
The vessel is still being retrieved from where it remains only partially submerged.
