Federal Standards Changing the GED

Students working on their GEDs have an added incentive to finish their exams this year, KPC’s Suzie Kendrick…

Kendrick: ” The GED changes are coming as of January 1st. Here at KPC, the Kenai River Campus, the Learning Center where our GED s are administered, they’re asking folks to complete their GED testing by Dec. 20th in order to make sure it will be relevant to the existing GED whereas the new 2014 standards will be coming in Jan. 1st 2014″.

Kendrick said the timing is important, because students may be faced with all-new material in just a few weeks…

Kendrick: “Come the first of the year, everything is being thrown out and all of the new standards are coming in and the reason that’s an issue is there’s three different tests for the GED its broken down to math, reading comprehension and everything else. The rub is, is that if someone has done two of three tests and say they’re still working on math which tends to be the one people have the most trouble with, they will have missed the boat and all of that work that they had done on those other two tests will no longer be applicable.”

You can call KPC to reserve a testing time for your GED at 262-0330.
