One person died yesterday morning as a single-story ranch-style home burned in Nikolaevsk.
Just before 3:30am, multiple 911 calls came in of a structure fire in the village of Nikolaevsk. Volunteers from Kachemak Emergency Services and Anchor Point Volunteer Fire Department and Anchor Point Troopers responded to find the home fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters worked to put out the fire, and entered the building once the itwas out, about an hour later. The remains of one person were found inside. Troopers haven’t released the identity of the deceased, since they’re waiting for identification from the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage.
A State Fire Marshall responded from Anchorage to conduct the investigation into the cause of the fire.
